How much does a shed really cost?

Add all quoted work instead of treating the kit price as the budget.

Budget for the finished job, not just the shed kit. Building, base, delivery, assembly, extras and removal are the six lines to add. For scale, our worked example comes to £2,172.50 including a chosen 10% allowance; it is a planning example, not a market average.

Use six lines for every quotation

  1. Building: the exact size and variant, including the stated tax treatment.
  2. Base: materials, preparation, labour and any ground work.
  3. Delivery: the charge for your destination and the actual drop-off service.
  4. Assembly: labour and any prerequisites you must provide.
  5. Extras: the treatment, fittings and other additions you have chosen.
  6. Removal: dismantling, waste handling and disposal where needed.

Keep included work from being counted twice

Mark each item as included, separately quoted or still unknown. Put a zero in the calculator only when you know an item costs nothing extra or is already included in another line. An unanswered question is not a saving.

Keep the date, supplier and scope beside each quote. Two totals are comparable only when they cover the same building and work. Check whether site preparation and carrying materials from the drop-off point are included.

Choose an allowance deliberately

The calculator can add a percentage that you choose for unpriced uncertainty. That allowance is a budgeting choice, not an estimate of what your site will require. Obtain a specific quote for known work instead of hiding it inside a percentage.

For example, a £1,000 building, £775 base and £200 assembly total £1,975. Choosing a 10% allowance adds £197.50. These are illustrative inputs and do not describe current market prices.

Check installation exclusions explicitly

Keter’s assembly terms exclude anchoring and require the customer to have moved the delivered product near the build area. A paid assembly option therefore does not answer every labour question. Confirm the exact scope before entering the quote. Read the service terms.
